Use the FAA-Approved Gleim BATD (Basic Aviation Training Device) for private pilot and instrument training to develop proficiency, and maintain currency.

Basic Aviation Training Devices, also known as BATDs, allow pilots to credit training time towards Private Pilot and Instrument Rating training courses. The amount of time that may be credited depends whether the course is conducted under 14 CFR Part 61 or 141. In addition to logging training time, BATDs can be utilized by instrument rated pilots to maintain their instrument recent experience requirements to main currency by completing six instrument approaches, holding procedures, and intercepting and tracking courses in accordance with 14 CFR 61.57(c)(2).
